Our Tea Sourcing & Craft

At TEA & ME, we look at tea beyond the finished packet. Origin, leaf quality, ingredients, handling and freshness all influence what eventually reaches the cup.

Our collection brings together teas from established tea-growing regions in India and around the world, along with herbs, fruits, spices and botanicals used in our blends. We select products and ingredients according to their character, quality and suitability for the final cup.

Thoughtful Sourcing:

TEA & ME works with tea growers, estates and suppliers across different tea-producing regions. Depending on the tea, its origin may include India, Sri Lanka, China, Japan and Taiwan.

We consider factors such as leaf appearance, aroma, origin, grade and the character expected from the tea when selecting products for our collection.

​

For blends, the same principle applies to herbs, spices, fruits and botanicals: each ingredient needs to work with the tea rather than simply add flavour or colour.

​

Selection with Purpose:

There isn't one type of tea that suits every drinker.

​

Our collection includes whole-leaf and long-leaf teas, CTC teas, tea bags, green teas, black teas, white teas, oolong teas and fruit and herbal infusions. Each format has its own purpose and brewing character.

​

For loose-leaf teas, we look for leaf quality, aroma and appearance. For blends, we pay attention to how the tea, spices, herbs, fruits and botanicals work together.

​

Where a blend calls for dried ingredients, they are selected and handled to retain their characteristic aroma and appearance.

​

Blending in Small Batches:

For our blended teas, ingredients are measured and assembled in small batches so that the proportions remain consistent from one batch to the next.

​

The aim is not to make one ingredient dominate the cup. A well-made blend should allow the base tea and accompanying ingredients to remain identifiable while creating a balanced flavour and aroma.

This approach is reflected in individual TEA & ME products, where ingredients are selected for balance and assembled in small batches.

Quality & Freshness:

Quality does not end when a tea is selected or blended. Storage and packaging also matter.

​

Depending on the product, TEA & ME uses packaging designed to help protect tea from exposure to light, air and moisture. Our loose-leaf teas, for example, are packaged in formats intended to help preserve freshness and aroma.

​

We also assess the finished tea for characteristics such as appearance, aroma, infusion and overall balance.

​

The aim is straightforward: the tea should arrive in a condition that allows its intended character to come through in the cup.

​​

Transparency Over Marketing:

We believe tea buyers should be able to understand what they are buying, where it comes from and what is in the blend.

​

That means providing ingredient and product information rather than relying only on descriptions such as "premium" or "luxury."

​

For single-origin and region-specific teas, origin is part of the tea's identity. For blends, the ingredient list helps explain the flavour profile. This distinction matters because a Darjeeling, Assam, Ceylon, Sencha or herbal infusion is not simply interchangeable with another tea.

From Origin to Cup:

TEA & ME brings together teas and ingredients from different origins and styles, but the principle remains the same: select carefully, handle appropriately, blend with purpose and package for freshness.
